Let’s face it. There are a million photographers out there trying to make it in the photography business. Seems like every day I meet someone new saying they are a photographer. The industry is flooded with great gear that makes it easy for anyone to pick it up as their new profession. I am not judging, I am one of these people! The problem comes when I begin to compare myself to all these photographers and wonder who I am in this sea of talent and ambition.
I have to get back to my roots in photography. To find my heartbeat again. My love for photography is truly rooted in worship. I see God through my lens, and my heart is moved to capture Him. He is the beauty in the magic light of the day, in the joy that lives in people, in their stories. I know I am in the place He has given me to stand and dance in, when I laugh and cry behind my lens. I confess, I forget this when I am caught up in the performance mode of the “business” which unfortunately cannot be avoided. I am constantly trying to be better, like all of us, to learn more, to achieve what we deem as success. However, none of it means anything if I am not in the place God has called me to be. I cannot and do not want to do anything if He is not with me. So, I go back to the roots of the worship of my Creator.
This is my God, found through my lens, as best as I can show Him to you today. Thanks for stopping by my blog and joining me in the journey to find my place, my own fingerprint in the photography world.
